What a surveyor looks at

59A-36.025, F.A.C.

A0200 is the emergency power rule, 59A-36.025. Your home has to be able to keep the air inside at 81 degrees or cooler for at least 96 hours after the power goes out. A home of 16 beds or fewer also has to keep 48 hours of fuel on site.

The plan for all of that is written down, approved by the county and sent to AHCA, and it comes due again every year along with your emergency management plan. Because the rule is about what the home can actually do, a plan on paper isn’t the whole of it.

Emergency environmental control plan, 59A-36.025(3)(a), F.A.C.: Each assisted living facility must maintain a copy of its approved plan in a manner that makes the plan readily available at the licensee’s physical address for review by a legally authorized entity.
County approval of the emergency plan, 59A-36.015(1)(d), F.A.C.: (d) The facility’s emergency management plan, with documentation of review and approval by the county emergency management agency, as described in Rule 59A-36.019, F.A.C., that must be readily available by facility staff.
Emergency power policies and procedures, 59A-36.025(5)(b), F.A.C.: (b) Each assisted living facility shall maintain the written policies and procedures in a manner that makes them readily available at the licensee’s physical address for review by a legally authorized entity.
